Trimlight Permanent lighting Questions and More

Most homes fall in a range based on the size of the roofline and the amount of trim being lit. It is a one-time purchase with no monthly fees, subscriptions, or app charges. LightBiz Template gives free, no-pressure estimates so you get an exact number for your home before you decide anything.

For most homeowners, yes. Paying a crew to hang and remove temporary lights runs a four-figure bill every single season. A permanent Trimlight system is installed once and typically pays for itself within a few years, then keeps working for holidays, game days, and everyday accent lighting with no yearly cost.

Yes, they stay up year-round, and they are designed to virtually disappear into your trim during the day. At night you control everything from your phone: warm white for everyday, team colors on game day, or full holiday scenes on a schedule.

Trimlight LEDs are rated for 50,000+ hours, which works out to roughly 20 to 30 years of normal use. The system carries a lifetime product warranty, and LightBiz Template is local for any service you ever need.

Trimlight combines a 12V low-voltage design, an IP68 waterproof rating, three bulb-spacing options, music sync, and a lifetime product warranty, backed locally by LightBiz Template. Many competing systems match some of these but not all, and several are newer to the market with shorter warranties.

The cost to install our Trimlight system varies based on size and scope of your project (i.e. linear footage, architectural elements of the roof line, aerial equipment needed, etc.). Our minimum Trimlight installation is $2,000 with the front side of the average home typically in the $2,000-$3,000 range.

Trimlight is the Nation’s first provider and installer of permanent LED lighting for homes and businesses which provides year-round architectural accents, increases security, celebrates holidays and events, enlivens outdoor spaces, and enhances curb appeal.

Trimlight is a permanent, programmable LED lighting system for your home or business. Trimlight is professionally installed and allows for holiday, landscape, and security lighting year-round! The lights are completely customizable through the Trimlight app, hardly noticeable during the day, and energy-efficient. We’re the most functional and versatile permanent lighting on the market.

Trimlight can be installed on any structure, both residential and commercial, including patios and outdoor living spaces, movie theaters, parks, churches, restaurants, banks, etc. If you’re a property owner looking for a great all-in-one solution or a business manager/owner looking to increase visibility and foot traffic to your location, Trimlight is for you!

There are so many benefits of Trimlight! The first obvious benefit is permanence. Trimlight eliminates the need to pay for traditional temporary holiday lights, which gets very expensive year after year. It also eliminates the need to put lights up yourself, eliminating the risk of potentially harming yourself by climbing up on the roof and freeing up your time so you can spend it with family during the holidays. Another huge benefit is the aesthetic. With custom-matched channels and professional installation, these lights are designed to stay up year-round, fit within any HOA guidelines, and compliment the look of any home. Trimlight is the best value since users are able to use the system year-round, as opposed to four weeks out of the year. Manufacturer warranty, energy efficiency, and reliable customer service are just a few more applicable beneifits.

If customers reside within an HOA, we’re happy to help you submit the required paperwork to your HOA for approval. We’ve worked with hundreds of HOA’s across the nation and Trimlight is approved by nearly every HOA due to it’s sleek, professional design and installation. In fact, many HOAs hire us to install permanent holiday lighting on their entrances, clubhouses, and guard-gates! For approval for your specific HOA, please contact us with the name of your HOA and we will contact you regarding the next steps!

Our patented channel allows us to install our lights on any roofline or structure. We use recycled aluminum to prevent from rust or corrosion and is enamel-baked to prevent from fading and chipping over time. This channel is color-matched to any existing trim color and is installed on the underside of the eave, behind the gutters and trim. This allows it to be practically invisible during the day and unnoticeable to those passing by!

Our app is extremely user-friendly and compatible with both Android and Apple devices. The app comes with over 180 presets, preconfigured holiday patterns, and daily timers. For those who want complete customization, users can also set custom sequences and make their own color combos. The beauty of our system is you can set it and forget it!

Trimlight comes with a Lifetime Product Warranty. The lifetime of Trimlight depends on how often it is being used. On average Trimlight will last between 20-30 years (assuming it is only used during nighttime hours). If Trimlight is constantly left on day and night, it will significantly reduce the lifetime of the lights.

Trimlight provides an industry leading lifetime product warranty. This warranty covers any components of the Trimlight system for the life of those components. When used properly the components in the Trimlight system should last 20 to 30 years. If the system is left on 24 hours per day this greatly diminishes the lifetime of the product.

‍Unfortunately, you cannot have your existing Trimlight system removed and used again on another home. Trimlight is designed to be a permanent fixture on the home and the channel is specifically ordered to match the color, style, and footage of your existing home so it would not meet the criteria to be utilized on another structure.

Trimlight’s patented channel system is designed to match the color of the roofline, blending in seamlessly to hide the wires from view. They lock the lights securely in place and are hardly noticeable during the day.

Hardly any! Each Trimlight bulb uses 0.6 watts of energy. A 200 foot system would then use 120-400 watts. That means you would have to run your Trimlight system for nearly 3-8 hours before you’re billed $0.06 – $0.20! In comparison, incandescent Christmas lights use anywhere from 1000-1400 watts for the same number of lights!

Please contact us to schedule a hassle-free replacement if one of your lights has gone out. Rest assured, your bulb is safeguarded by a product warranty of up to 50,000 hours of light use and LightBiz Template also provides a 1-year minimum labor warranty.

‍The answer is sometimes. If the glitch or fault occurs within the RGB components then it will only affect that light. The light may turn a different color or shut off completely. If the glitch or fault occurs within the data wire of the affected light, it may affect all the lights after it in line. Either way it is a quick and simple repair, reach out to your local dealer and they will swap out the affected light which will correct any issue.

Typically, LED diodes with lenses can become faded or damaged due to constant sun exposure over time. However, Trimlight’s residential lighting has no lens or covering, just the direct LED shows out of the channel, which means Trimlight LEDs will not fade, get cloudy, or become discolored over time like many other exterior LEDs. Furthermore, Trimlight residential LEDs face down and below the channel which further protects them from constant sun exposure.

With RGB lights, pure white uses a combination of red, green, and blue to create the color. Therefore, the pure white setting may appear to have a blue hue, some people see the hue and some do not. We recommend looking at pure white from the sidewalk or street before trying to adjust the setting. If you still want to take the blue out, you can go into the custom color setting, type in 255 in each box below the corresponding R-G-B. From there, slowly decrease the number in the blue category until you see a white light you like. You can also use google to search for lists of RGB codes for different white hues. The Trimlight app includes a standard warm white and standard cool white option as well as the ability to customize shades any way you’d like!

Yes, we have a preset for warm white on the custom color palette screen. Click on the color circle labeled WW which is the first circle on the second row. In addition to long pressing a custom color circle and dragging your finger across the color spectrum, you can also type in RGB codes directly into the boxes below the R-G-B settings. For a list of custom color RGB codes to input, use google to search for RGB color code charts.

Yes, from the color palette screen simply long press any color circle outside the gray line box and a window will pop up giving you the option to slide your finger through the color spectrum to a specific custom color. You can also type in RGB codes for different color options. Then click OK and that custom color will be saved in that color circle.

This will vary based on the controller type you have. Our newest system, the Edge controller, offers almost limitless possibilities. Contact us for more details.

The “pair new device” button allows you to pair Trimlight to your home network. Absolutely, the Trimlight app is designed to work with any iPhone or Android device. The app will also work with most Mac computer systems since they are app-driven. It will not work with PC computers.

You can rename a previously saved pattern by simply connecting to Trimlight app, press enter, then click on the clock icon at the bottom right. From there you will see a list of all current patterns. Yes, you can, but we recommend to not overlap your daily timer with a calendar event. For example, you can create a calendar event for a holiday and set it to run from 7;00 p.m. to 11:00 p.m.. Then you could set a daily timer to come on from 11:01 p.m. to midnight or even to 5;00 a.m. As long as the timers to not overlap they will work correctly.

With Trimlight’s user friendly app, you can pre-program your lights to turn on and shut off on specific days and times. This allows you to set up any lighting schedule you want and you don’t have to worry about it while you are away on business or vacation. You can also set your system up to specific dates and patterns for holidays, sporting events or any special occasions months in advance. With Trimlight, you can set it and forget it.

No, the Trimlight controller has a built in battery so all saved programs and timers will not be lost if the controller loses power. That being said, we always recommend keeping the Trimlight controller plugged in at all times unless performing a soft reset or hard reset.

Simply locate the white Trimlight controller, unplug it for 1 minute, then plug back in. You can also cut power to the white controller by pulling out the green cube next to the blue or green light for 1 minute then plugging back in. This will clear any error codes in your controller without deleting any patterns or timers you have saved.

Typically the Trimlight control box is mounted on an interior wall inside a garage or under a carport. The Trimlight system simply plugs into a regular outlet.

UpLight Spotlights are powerful 9W RGB fixtures designed to wash trees, facades, and architectural features with bold light. Pathway Lights are low-profile 4.5W RGB fixtures that line walkways, driveways, and garden beds for safe ground-level illumination. Both run on the same 24V system and are controlled together in the Trimlight Edge app, so you can build a single coordinated landscape scene.

Yes. Trimlight landscape uplights and pathway lights run on the same controller family as the roofline system, so LightBiz Template can integrate them into a single app, single schedule, and single coordinated color scene. You can also add landscape lighting later as a standalone install if you don’t yet have a roofline system.

Most installations involve shallow trenching to bury the IP68-rated low-voltage wire below grade, keeping it out of sight and protected from lawn equipment. LightBiz Template maps the wire path during your free estimate and uses targeted, low-impact trenching to minimize disruption to your turf, beds, and irrigation lines.

The highest-impact targets are mature trees (uplit from the base), architectural features like columns, gables, and stone work, driveway and walkway edges, garden beds, fence lines, water features, and outdoor living areas like patios and fire pits. During your free estimate, LightBiz Template designs zones so each area can be controlled independently in the app.

The fixtures, connectors, and wire are all IP68-rated and built for permanent burial and weather exposure. That said, the product warranty excludes damage from shovels, edgers, mowers, animal chewing, and acts of nature like lightning or flooding – so LightBiz Template places fixtures and wire with these real-world risks in mind during install.

Yes – that’s a major reason homeowners in Kansas City choose permanent Christmas lights. The same fixtures handle every holiday on the calendar: red and pink for Valentine’s Day, green for St. Patrick’s, red-white-and-blue for the Fourth of July, orange and purple for Halloween, school or team colors for game day, plus calm warm white for everyday evening accent lighting.

Yes. The Trimlight controller includes an auxiliary audio input that lets the lights pulse and animate in real time to any music you play through it – Christmas carols, holiday party playlists, or live performances. You can build music-synced scenes for the holiday season and reuse the same setup for parties any time of year.

Because Trimlight is permanent, LightBiz Template installs year-round. To guarantee your system is mounted, tuned, and ready for the holiday season, we recommend booking by early fall – November and December calendars fill quickly. Spring and summer installs let you enjoy the system through Independence Day and game season before Christmas even arrives.

For most homeowners, yes. A seasonal install crew charges every November to hang lights and again every January to remove them, and the strands themselves typically need replacing every few seasons. A permanent Trimlight system from LightBiz Template installs once and lasts decades, while the low-voltage LEDs draw only a fraction of the power that traditional incandescent strands use.

Yes. In addition to 180 ready-made displays, the Trimlight Edge app lets you build fully custom scenes from more than 16 million RGB color combinations – choose individual zones, set pixel-level color sequences, save them as named presets, and schedule them by date so different scenes auto-load for Thanksgiving, Christmas Eve, New Year’s, and beyond.

Yes. The Trimlight commercial system runs on cloud-based control, so a single account can manage lighting across every location your business operates – storefronts, regional offices, franchises, or campuses. You can push a coordinated brand color, holiday display, or event schedule to all sites at once, or fine-tune each location individually.

Yes. The system supports millions of RGB colors and lets LightBiz Template dial in the exact shades that match your brand palette – logo color, primary brand color, seasonal campaign colors, or sports team colors for game-day promotions. You can save those as named presets and schedule them automatically by day, time, or event.

Almost any building with street visibility benefits, including restaurants, retail storefronts, theaters, nightclubs, bars, hotels, car dealerships, banks, medical and dental offices, churches, schools, gyms, community parks, and HOAs/clubhouse entrances. If your business is set back from the road or competing for visibility, permanent commercial lighting can give you a real edge in Kansas City.

Bright, color-customizable lighting makes your storefront stand out after dark – especially valuable for businesses tucked off main roads or surrounded by other lit signage. LightBiz Template designs the layout to highlight architectural features, signage, and entry points, so drive-by traffic notices your location and is more likely to stop in.

The Trimlight lifetime product warranty covers replacement of any defective components at no parts cost. Labor for replacing those components is not automatically included – it depends on LightBiz Template’s local labor warranty terms. We’ll walk you through exactly what is and isn’t covered before installation so there are no surprises if a service call is ever needed.

Yes. Every Trimlight system is backed by a manufacturer warranty on the LED lights and components, and LightBiz Template stands behind the installation as well. That means your investment is protected long after install day, which is a big part of what makes the price worthwhile compared to disposable temporary lights that get thrown away at the end of each season.

Trimlight is a one-time investment, while seasonal light hanging is a cost you pay again every single year. Most homeowners spend hundreds to over a thousand dollars per season renting and installing temporary lights, so a permanent Trimlight system typically pays for itself within a few years and then keeps working for holidays, sports, parties, and everyday accent lighting at no added cost. It also removes the ladders, tangled strands, and yearly scheduling that come with temporary lights.

Yes. Your quote from LightBiz Template is a complete, professionally installed price that covers the Trimlight track, the LED channels, the controller, and full installation by our trained team. There are no surprise labor charges added later, and we walk you through the Trimlight Edge app before we leave so your system is ready to use the same day.

No. Trimlight is a one-time purchase with no monthly fees, subscriptions, or app charges. You control the entire system for free through the Trimlight Edge app over Bluetooth or WiFi, and there is nothing to renew. The only ongoing cost is the small amount of electricity the LEDs use, which stays low because they are low-voltage and energy efficient.

Yes. LightBiz Template offers financing so you can spread the cost of your Trimlight system into affordable monthly payments instead of paying the full amount up front. For many homeowners, the monthly payment is comparable to what they used to spend hiring a crew to hang temporary lights each season, and once the system is paid off the lights are yours with no recurring fees.

The price of a Trimlight system is based on the linear footage we install, not a flat fee, so your quote reflects your home’s exact rooflines, peaks, and any add-on areas like garages, columns, or landscape lines. Every estimate from LightBiz Template is free and itemized up front, and because Trimlight installs once and stays up year-round, you pay a single time instead of paying a crew to hang and tear down temporary lights every season.
