Two-story home with permanent roofline lighting in Olympia, WA

The short answer

We installed permanent LED lighting along the full roofline of a two-story West Olympia home in one day. The track mounts under the gutter line, so it stays out of sight in daylight, and the owners control colors and patterns from a phone app.

The problem

The owners were tired of climbing ladders every November to hang and remove seasonal lights. They wanted something that looked clean year round and could change for every holiday.

What we did, step by step

  1. Measure and plan the layout

The crew measured every roofline run and planned controller and power placement.

  2. Install the track and lights

Color-matched track went in under the gutter line with lights spaced evenly along each run.

  3. Set up the app and walk through it

The controller was paired to the owners phones and favorite scenes were saved.

How long it took

One day on site, from layout in the morning to the app walkthrough at dusk.

The tricky part

The home has several roof pitches, so the runs had to be planned so the lights read as one clean line from the street.

The result

The roofline now lights up for every holiday with no ladders, and warm white accent light most nights.

Why this matters in Olympia

Olympia gets long, dark, wet winters, so a permanent system that never has to come down is a popular choice for local homeowners.

Common questions from Olympia homeowners

How long does a permanent lighting install take on a two-story home?

Most two-story homes are done in one day, depending on the length of the rooflines.

Can you see permanent lights during the day?

The track is color-matched and mounted under the gutter line, so it is hard to spot in daylight.

Do permanent lights hold up in Olympia weather?

Yes. The system is sealed and rated for rain and cold, which suits western Washington winters.

Can I change the colors myself?

Yes. Colors, patterns and schedules are all set from a phone app.
