Why Chicago Homeowners Are Switching to Permanent Exterior Lighting

Red, white and blue Memorial Day lights on a two-story home

Across Kansas City and the surrounding area, climbing ladders, untangling strands and taking it all down again make traditional holiday decorating a stressful, annual chore.

LightBiz Template offers a permanent, elegant alternative. Our innovative, patented lighting system is professionally installed once and enjoyed for a lifetime.

Because our custom-extruded aluminum tracks are color-matched precisely to your home’s existing fascia or gutters, the permanent lighting system is completely hidden during the day.

It preserves your home’s clean architectural lines until you turn them on via your smartphone. Whether you want to illuminate your home for Christmas, boost your property’s nighttime security, or celebrate a local sporting event, you have infinite control at your fingertips.

Our Core Permanent Lighting Services

Residential Holiday & Accent Lighting

Celebrate every occasion on the calendar without ever touching a ladder again. From traditional warm whites for Thanksgiving to vibrant multi-colored animations for Christmas, Halloween, and the 4th of July, the creative choices are entirely yours. With millions of color options and hundreds of moving animations, chasing patterns, and waves, you can design a display that is uniquely yours. When turned off, the tracks blend perfectly into your trim, keeping your HOA perfectly happy.

Commercial & Retail Brand Lighting

In the competitive business landscape, visibility is everything. Draw eyes to your storefront, restaurant, or commercial facility 365 nights a year. Program your exact corporate branding colors to boost foot traffic, increase security along dark alleyways, and make your building stand out during those dark, gloomy winter afternoons. It’s a one-time capital investment that pays dividends in marketing and structural security for years to come.

Decks, Patios & Specialty Structures

Don’t let your outdoor living spaces go dark when summer ends. We custom-fit Trimlight permanent lighting systems directly to the under-structures of pergolas, gazebos, covered patios, and deck railings. This application casts a beautiful, warm, ambient glow downward, extending your outdoor hosting seasons and creating an inviting atmosphere for evening barbecues or family gatherings.

Architectural RGB Downlighting

Replace standard, high-energy floodlights with sophisticated, modern downlighting. Built into your home’s soffits, our downlighting solutions can be programmed to emit rich, soft-white architectural pools of light that enhance your home’s curb appeal while washing away blind spots for heightened security.

Professional Landscape & Pathway Lighting

Bring your property’s natural beauty to life after dark. Our advanced landscape lighting solutions elegantly illuminate pathways, architectural features, gardens, and mature trees across your estate. Designed to withstand rain, sun and every season in Kansas City, these heavy-duty fixtures provide crisp, reliable illumination. They increase safety along dark walkways, guide guests safely to your door, and add dramatic, high-end nighttime depth to your entire landscape design.

Custom Globe & Bistro Lights

Capture the perfect ambiance for outdoor living and hosting. Trimlight’s commercial-grade Globe Lights offer a beautiful, classic bistro look combined with the power of modern RGB technology. Permanently installed along your outdoor entertainment zones, these heavy-duty globe strands are built to survive year-round weather in Kansas City. Best of all, they connect right to your main Trimlight app, allowing you to dim them for a cozy dinner or change their colors to match the rest of your festive holiday display.

Compliance Information

To guarantee compliance with state electrical codes, structural integrity and property safety, every installation is performed by trained, licensed professionals in accordance with local code.

Trimlight's Beginning

In 2010, Ryan, our founder, got fed up with the yearly hassle of putting up holiday lights on his house and then having to remove them in the icy, snowy conditions a month later. He set out to find a better solution and dived deep into research on home construction to find the perfect permanent lighting solution.

He figured out that the best way to avoid damaging the roof or gutters was to install lights along the edge of the roof, also known as the fascia. When neighbors started asking about his new method, Ryan got together with his closest friends to turn Trimlight into a business.

Since then, Trimlight has grown significantly, with thousands of light installations nationwide and the creation of over 40 dealerships in the U.S. and Canada. Even as the company has adapted to new technologies and the increased dependability of LED lights, Trimlight keeps innovating and improving their offerings.

Trimlight’s goal is to brighten homes throughout America and eventually the world with long-lasting, programmable lights that can be tailored for any holiday or event, all year round.

  • With Trimlight Select’s adaptable lighting system, you can mark any holiday, special event, or sports day, or simply enjoy stylish lighting all year round.
  • Trimlight’s offerings extend to tasteful lighting for outdoor areas like patios and decks, as well as for residential and commercial properties.
  • Professional fitting services for our products can be accessed through our network of dealers.
Day vs night diagram showing the light channel hidden under the roofline

A. We offer an aluminum channel that harmonizes with your home’s color scheme, with a variety of choices designed to complement different exterior styles.

B. The design is barely noticeable during daylight hours, with the tiny light-emitting diodes subtly emerging from the channel to create a concealed look.

C. The Trimlight channel doesn’t get in the way of most guttering systems or design features of your home, as it’s strategically placed away from where water enters and from direct sunlight.

D. Our Trimlight Edge system allows for simple manipulation of each individual light bulb from your smartphone, providing a vast array of color options and lighting effects.

E. Our LED lights are exceptionally bright and visually appealing, with each diode emitting 30+ Lumens (LM) of white light. For colors, red lights are at 300-400MCD, green at 1000-1200MCD, and blue at 300-400MCD.

Trimlight bulbs rely solely on LED technology, which is built to last and conserve energy, outperforming old-fashioned incandescent bulbs by a significant margin.

With our Trimlight Select system, switching the color of your lights is just a tap away, giving you limitless options for decorating during holidays, sports events, and other celebrations.

Trimlight does away with the trouble of putting up and keeping up outdoor lights.

It keeps the lights firmly in place and hides any wiring, ensuring your home or business enjoys tasteful lighting throughout the year that stands up to the weather.

We have a residential lighting channel that fits easily onto most houses, as well as a commercial version that’s appropriate for a wide range of business premises.
